James McCann

Australian writer, poet, playwright, political philosopher, rapper and comedian James Donald Forbes McCann has been published in a variety of publications as broad as The Spectator, News.com.au, Junkee, Quadrant, Splitsider, Pedestrian.tv, The Adelaide Review, Rip It Up, Huffington Pos and VICE…  as well as less salubrious journals such as ZOO Magazine and The Australian.

As a playwright, James’ most acclaimed works to date are his hit comedy musicals The Sound of Nazis and Wolf Creek: The Musical. If it’s not clear from the titles, these were parodies of the blockbuster movies- and quickly gathered cult followings, critical acclaim, comparisons to Mel Brooks and Monty Python and a ‘Best Emerging Comedy’ award for Wolf Creek: The Musical at the Adelaide Fringe. But perhaps the crowning achievement of that show was the attendance of Greg McLean, director of Wolf Creek (the movie), who heralded James’ masterpiece as “hilarious and genuinely entertaining… the feel good torture porn show everyone will love.”

“slightly manic, funny and entertaining – everything you want from a show in a comedy festival!”

“one liners, puns and musical numbers that have the audience in fits of hysterical laughter … I found myself doubled over with tears rolling down my face”
